Silver Star Communications is the local carrier for Internet, Networking, Telephone and Digital TV services, while Silver Star Wireless (our affiliate) provides wireless phone and mobile Internet service. The application process is separate for the two different companies.

Position: Service Center Technician, Freedom, Wyoming

Role:

Provides basic voice, video and data technical support services. Serves as the initial contact to resolve customer issues. Performs basic level diagnostics and troubleshooting, provisions necessary communications and customer premise equipment, performs PC repairs/upgrades, administers customer accounts and uses software applications to generate trouble tickets, service orders, job orders and reports.

Essential Job Functions:

• Works directly with customers to identify and resolve their hardware, software or service related problems
• Verifies and provisions applicable communications equipment required to activate, suspend or deactivate services to customers.
• Generates, processes and/or dispatches trouble tickets, service orders and job orders.
• Escalates unresolved customer service problems to appropriate team specialist in a timely manner.
• Verifies, audits, tests and provisions new and used customer premise equipment to include set top boxes, DSL modems and Canopy subscriber modules (SMs).
• Generates applicable reports using OSS, Prism, Calix CMS and middleware software applications.
• Performs hardware/software upgrades or repairs on customer computer systems.
• Monitors visual systems performance indicators and reports discrepancies to appropriate team leaders.
• Administers customer user accounts and services (i.e., email, Internet, Canopy wireless).
• Uses TCP/IP and other test utilities to test, validate and troubleshoot IP connectivity problems.
• Complies with Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) rules and regulations.
• Keeps accurate documentation and completes necessary paperwork.
• Maintains a safe and secure work environment, to include PC Repair and Laboratory facilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience / Requirements:

• Requires an Associate’s degree in computer related field or equivalent or two years of relevant work experience; or combination of education and experience that encompasses all aspects of this position.
• Two years of experience operating, maintaining, upgrading and configuring computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment in a local area network environment.
• Actively participate in a team environment, fostering forward thinking, innovation and creativity.
• Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The ideal person for this job would display an exceptional customer focus with an emphasis on enhancing the customer experience and the ability to handle a high volume of phone calls in a structured environment.
• Proven analytical skills, work requires continual attention to detail. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Resourceful, roll up the sleeves attitude. The successful candidate must have the initiative to resolve problems and seek answers independently and enthusiastically persist until goals are achieved.
• Ability to hold a valid Wyoming or Idaho Driver’s License.
