Silver Star PCS gets a new name: Silver Star Wireless - 9/15/2009
FREEDOM, WY – Silver Star Communications plans to rebrand its wireless “PCS” company to more clearly represent the type of service they provide. Formerly known as Silver Star PCS, the company has chosen to rename the division Silver Star Wireless.
Silver Star launched its wireless service in late 2005 under the name Silver Star PCS. The company originally chose this name because PCS was the true technical name of the service, Personal Communications Service. The original cellular phone band operated at the 824-894 MHz frequency, whereas the newer PCS operated on the 1900 MHz radio channel. Sprint was the first to set up a PCS network, and it was thought at the time that customers knew what PCS meant from the association with Sprint.
Through surveys and general customer feedback, Silver Star has learned that their customers care about coverage, customer service and price. Silver Star has realized that customers do not really understand or care about the actual technology by which their service is provided. In general most customers do not have a preference as to what type of cellular or mobile phone network their service provider uses.
Barbara Sessions, sales manager commented “GSM, CDMA, PCS are all just technical acronyms that customers really don’t relate to. We want our community to see the name Silver Star Wireless and know exactly what we offer and what our brand represents” She expanded saying “We want our brand identity to reflect our exceptional wireless phone service, but we also want people to recognize that part of being a ‘local’ company involves all of the various ways we contribute to and support the local community, its residents, non-profits and schools.”
While the transition to change signage, brochures, banners, and so on will take some time, the company plans to start making changes immediately.
